Skye Cancer Care is delighted that they have been able to provide a vein finder for the chemotherapy unit at Mackinnon Memorial Hospital. In collaboration with Dunvegan, Struan and Edinbane community trusts who contributed significant funds along with MOWI, the charity have been able to help the chemo unit purchase this expensive piece of kit which is already in use and benefitting patients.

Chemotherapy often requires a cannula inserted in the back of the hand or arm and can be painful and increasingly tricky as treatment progresses. The vein finder helps staff find veins that might not ordinarily be visible or palpable, avoiding multiple attempts at inserting a cannula.
